Maintaining your Health during the Holiday
Dear Anthony,

With the holiday season here, we are all vulnerable to substantial weight gain. During November, December, January, and February we are exposed to a countless amount of food-focused celebrations. How can we turn down Mama's thanks-giving feasts, Daddy's candy canes on the tree, your Sisters big New Years Party, and your Boyfriend's Valentines day box of chocolates. These celebrations make it so hard to keep the weight off, but their is a solution.

Food-Focused Celebrations

We typically use food and drink to socialize with friends and family. During the Holiday season these social events happen more frequently, thus giving us reason to overindulge. For example, you might here someone say "Its okay for me to be stuffed on thanksgiving day". This kind of verbiage allows people to actually believe that it is okay to overeat. One simple tip that will make maintaining your health for the holiday season easier is to understand the season is about family and friends not the food.

Try to have a light meal before you head out to these social events. An early meal means less food on your plate during the main course. This will allow you to eat more moderately. When we go to a dinner hungry we tend to overeat. Overeating is proven to be the fastest way to gain weight during the holiday season.
